IRL Glasses

Role — Designer & Project Manager
Identity System, Web Design, Marketing Collateral
Fall 2018 - Spring 2019
I’ve always been intrigued by ways to disconnect in an increasingly connected world. That’s why when the opportunity arose to work with the indomitable artist + entrepreneur Ivan Cash on a pair of screen blocking glasses called IRL Glasses, I was all in 😎Over the course of a year, I took on a range of roles, from project manager to designer to operations manager.
IRL Glasses ended up raising over $140k in just 30 days from over 2,000 backers on Kickstarter. IRL Glasses were covered by Wired and Vice, graced the front page of Reddit, won a FastCompany World Changing Ideas award, and were inducted into the permanent collection of the Victoria & Albert Museum in London.
Design Responsibilities
I designed marketing assets for the IRL Glasses Kickstarter, social media, and public-facing outlets. I also designed website wireframes and contributed to IRL Labs’ brand guidelines.

Golden Ticket
I concepted and designed a golden ticket for a giveaway that we hosted in partnership with Getaway, a company that rents out bespoke cabins in the woods. We snuck three limited edition golden tickets into random IRL Glasses boxes, and the three lucky winners won a free stay at a Getaway cabin.
The design and concept were inspired by Charlie and the Chocolate Factory - it was a treat to pay homage to my childhood love of Willy Wonka 🍫
PM + Operations responsibilities —
As PM and Operations Manager, I gave feedback on packaging designs, managed communications with our overseas manufacturers and shipping centers, and oversaw press outreach + the launch of the crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter. All’s that to say - now I know more about international duty taxes and lenticular animation than I ever thought I would.
A huge thank you to Ivan Cash and Scott Blew for the incredible opportunity to be a part of the IRL Labs team.
