Sowing Agency Exhibition

Sowing Agency is an upcoming art exhibition inspired by Asian Pacific Islander leaders fighting for environmental justice, hosted by the Asian American Women Artists Association (AAWAA).

AAWAA invited me to creative direct and design the exhibition’s visual identity. I rooted the design in flora that have roots in Asian American culture, like the malunggay herb and poppy; when woven together, they form an abstract representation of the globe. The exhibition’s identity is also rooted in activism, with typography inspired by protest posters from the women’s suffrage movement.

This past year, violence against AAPI communities, and especially AAPI women, has been heartbreakingly exacerbated. I’m so grateful for the opportunity to use design to support the AAPI community and non-profits like AAWAA.
